Leave a gift in your Will
Why leave a gift to Dignity in Dying?
We believe that everybody has the right to a good death and that none of us should be forced to suffer as we die.
We are a not-for-profit organisation that campaigns to change the law on assisted dying across the British Isles. The people who remember us in their Wills are absolutely essential to securing greater choice for everyone at the end of life. Gifts in Wills can represent up to a third of our income and allow us to plan the high impact work needed to change the law.
Thanks to our members and supporters we have transformed the debate around assisted dying. We’re closer than we’ve ever been to changing the law.
- The British Medical Association, following the lead of other medical organisations, has dropped its opposition to assisted dying and adopted a neutral position. This opens the door for meaningful, substantive debate on this issue among doctors.
- Prior to the last General Election, the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Greens all made manifesto commitments on assisted dying, with Sir Keir Starmer personally pledging to make time available for debate.
An assisted dying law is a matter of when, not if. Your legacy could be an important part of an historic campaign for change.
My parents left a generous legacy to Dignity in Dying and my wife and I have done the same in our Wills. We both feel very strongly that the campaign is getting closer to winning the battle for law change but to finally get a Bill through parliament it needs financial support as much as ever.

The best way I could make a difference is through donations in my Will. I thought for a long time about what organisations were important. My choices were Dignity in Dying and my local hospice. It is a small thing but the peace of mind it has created is immeasurable.
